Role: Lead Garden Steward (no lawn cutting/maintenance)

Location: Kincardine and surrounding areas

Start: Mid April 2026

End: Late October, Mid November 2026

Wage: $24-$27/hour

Hours: Seasonal, 20-30 hours/week, more in the spring and fall months. No weekends.

WaveScapes Design is a local landscape design and maintenance company, seeking a moderately skilled Lead Garden Steward to take oversight of our maintenance division. This role involves working with a small crew or working independently to provide excellent maintenance services for high-quality properties. Our clients value professionalism, efficiency, and meticulous attention to detail, and we pride ourselves on exceeding their expectations. The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to assist with garden installations on larger projects, collaborating with other contractors to complete the softscaping of landscape projects. We need the ‘right-hand person’ who will operate the truck and dump trailer, manage maintenance routes, and lead a junior helper when applicable. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

• Work independently and/or with a small team in performing garden maintenance tasks, including pruning, weeding, mulching and occasional planting. 

• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring satisfaction and clear communication.

• Safely operate and maintain small tools and equipment such as hedge trimmers and leaf blowers.

• Safely operate a half ton pickup truck with a dump trailer, backing the trailer will be required.

• Assist with garden installations on larger projects.

• Ensure all work is completed efficiently, safely, and to the highest standard.

 

Qualifications:

• Proven experience in garden maintenance or a related field.

• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

• Ability to drive a pickup truck with a small dump trailer, G license, clean record.

• Experience or willingness to assist with garden installations.

• Excellent communication and client service skills.

• Physical ability to perform outdoor tasks in various weather conditions.

We need an ambitious and fit team member to help our crew handle the dynamic, physical demands of high-end garden care.

• Work with a small team or a leader in performing garden maintenance tasks, including pruning, weeding, mulching and occasional planting. Scooping and wheeling mulch is a repetitive task and will be required during spring mulching and installation projects.

• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring satisfaction and clear communication.

• Safely operate and maintain small tools and equipment such as hedge trimmers and leaf blowers.

• Assist with garden installations on larger projects.
